The highest mountains in the whole of Austria
The Hohen Tauern and its importance for the region
The Hohen Tauern is a high mountainous region in the central Austria Alps. In East Tirol you will find – alongside the peaks in the Ötztaler Alps – the highest mountains in Austria.
The Hohen Tauern lies between the three regions Salzburg, Carinthia and East Tirol. The Hohe Tauern national park lies in the centre of the region.
Family walks
SIMPLE WALKS OVER MEADOWS AND THROUGH FORESTS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Country tracks thread their way through the landscape, simple foot paths cross the green meadows into the shadow of the forests. The forest footpaths are varied leading into the mountains, higher and higher until they become challenging mountain trails.
We know the landscape surrounding our hotel and are happy to advise our guests on routes or circuits that are suitable for their physical ability and knowledge. Due to many years of experience we know which routes are suitable for families with children and are happy to recommend them.
You will receive the link to our walking blog on the reception. That way we can share our mountain know-how not only in personal conversation, but also online: To read and repeat!
Real experiences
OUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FAMILY WALKS CLOSE TO THE FAMILY HOTEL REPLERHOF
Bergerkogel
Just under the Bergerkogel lies a traditional mountain hut on a wildly romantic lake. With older children this tour is possible in a day, for families with younger children it is possible to include an overnight stay at the Bergersee hut.
A real adventure!
Johannis hut
The Johannis hut is reachable with a hut taxi, this way you can save your energy for a hike higher up – with a constant view of the Großvenediger. It is possible to watch from the hut groups of mountaineers on their way to the summit.
Gottschaun alm
The ascent to the Gottschaun alm is easy to reach with children, either on the wide country track or the footpath it leads up to the hut. The perfect place to enjoy a farmers snack with homemade produce and a view of the surrounding mountains.
